Lacquerous Launches - New Nail Polish Subscription Box

Lacquerous is a new monthly nail polish subscription service. When I went to their site to check it out, I was surprised to learn it's a rental service - you send the polish back after a month.

The Box: Lacquerous

The Cost: $18 a month

The Products: "You will receive your selection of THREE designer lacquers available at Lacquerous. Your box of 3 lacquers will be sent to you with pre-paid return packaging. Remember: treat your nail polish as you would want to receive it. Keep other Lacquerous members in mind. Once we receive your return package, we will ship you a new selection."

Not sure how I feel about a netflix for nail polish, considering Julep is about the same price and you keep the bottles. Plus I like getting new (non-used) samples in the mail! What do you think?

  1. That definitely doesn't sound sanitary...

  2. The idea of using designer nail polishes is appealing but who knows what the person before you did with them? Probably nothing terrible but even if everyone uses them perfectly its gross. Also, after someone uses a polish a couple time it tends to lessen in quality so how do they regulate that?

  3. Gross. Also, what if people switch out the nail polish that is in the bottle for a close dupe?

  5. I'm passing. Maybe decants, sure. But sharing nail polish with strangers? Absolutely not. Not only is there the worry of stuff in the polish, but also the worry of greedy people swapping polishes if they LOVE one. You also never know if someone will thin the polish out or what. Just too risky. I'd rather take the $18 and purchase one bottle of polish I've been lemming. Yuck.

  6. I don't necessarily think it's a hygiene issue, however the price seems really steep for just renting them. Maybe at $10 or $12 a month I'd try it since I'm a nail polish junkie, but for now I'll just stick with collecting Essie polishes and whatever arrives in my Birchboxes and Glam Bags!

  7. That sounds absolutely disgusting. I don't want to share nail polish with strangers. Who knows what kind of germs and nail fungus etc. they might have? I'm definitely going to stick with Julep on this one.

  8. I passed too and I plan to stick with Julep. It didn't appeal to me at all. I like getting unused stuff in the mail if I'm going to pay that price.

  13. From my experience, I don't think this thing is going to be around very long. The idea is fatally flawed, as comments all over the Internet prove. This has DESPERATION written all over it!! If a girl can't BUY their own brand new, for keeps bottle of nail polish when they want one, it's time to look for a job, a better job, or a rich hubby, LOL.
